My mother has always called me a ghost magnet. Cold spots, shadowy figures, unexplained sounds...I have always had a tendency to hone in on them. As time has gone on, I’ve come to hear the voices and see the faces of those who have passed on. I have made mistakes and been cocky with these gifts. Over time, I have learned to interact in a manner that respects the boundaries separating the living and the dead, but also keeps that line of communication open. The title of medium still feels like an ill-fitting suit some days, but connecting with the spirit world has become a normal part of my daily life. I feel in my bones that there is more to come in my personal interactions with those who have moved on, but for now I am satisfied with having a sense of peace as I walk through a haunted world.

I have two motives for writing this zine: 1) I want to share the things that I’ve learned in the hopes that it will save other untrained and new mediums some time and 2) I’ve got stories for days, man. It’s time to have somewhere to put them. This collection covers what I like to think of as the “dinner party conversation highlights" and I’ve tried to focus on the tales that came with a lesson. This booklet will start with some foundational information then jump right into the stories, each of which includes a synopsis of what I learned from the experience. The conclusion provides my suggestions for how to safely connect and communicate with spirits and how to clear your energy afterwards. Take what works for you, leave what doesn’t, and please keep learning if your heart is called to do so...or if the spirit world simply won’t leave you alone.
